(1) the current Big 12 payout is based on a 12 team league that included Mizzou and Nebraska. There is no reason to think their payout goes up unless they exceed 12 teams.

(2) as much as I dislike Swofford and would like to see him gone, he has said publicly that the ACC will get either a network or increased rights fees.

From Teel's July 2015 article:

“If we’re going to do this [an ACCN], we need to do it in the right way from the beginning that gives us the opportunity to have long-term success, and that’s what we’re trying to do and time it in a way so the distribution can be good, if not great, coming out, if we go this route. The other alternative is larger rights fees (from ESPN).”

So the question here is what would those fees be? IF they are market based, then they will most certainly exceed the Big 12 #'s. Sounds like Dodd has heard some specifics.

As I said in another post, I don't see ESPN being able to maintain an artificial non-market based gap in its payouts to the ACC without opening the door for the ACC to shop around.
